NAILART: one is sufficient

Easter has been over, eggs has been collected. Hello Easter holidays! No school anymore for 2 weeks, although... I fell behind with schoolwork, and so I have to catch up these days. Preparing exams, reading books and writing papers; Easter holidays.. at 50%. Anywayz, to be honest, I caused it a bit by myself, I can't bring up to study weekly or keep up with the courses. A classic problem for a lot of students I guess. (except the real geeks then...) So we don't have to complain that hard, I'm trying to relax as well. Tomorrow I will go on a lil shop-trip to Antwerp, my fave shopping city ♥. I Will keep you posted with a 'new in' of course.

For the nails. They speak for themselves I guess, not that special. Just a lovely color from Catrice with one glittery nail. Perfect to sparkle up your day. And sure it's necessary these days, I'm even wearing my sunglasses all day long during the smallest sun beams to keep up the good vibes, or even pretend it's warm... :(

Outfit of the day: long lasting and flimsy

Haaaaah this weather, can't stand it anymore. I'm really tired of my winter-closet. Dear mother nature, when are you gonna make spring finally happen? I remember last year, around this time of the year, it waz f*cking 25°C. Alwayz this packing and clothing layering, I'm sick of it.
This dress is a curly wurly breezy one. I own it already about 4 or 5 years, and I'm still not done with it. The wind unlocks its extra flimsiness. With the small belt, you can accentuate specific pieces of your body. And last but not least, the colors do create happiness, especially with it's silver glittery strips. (I'm the glitterobsessor, remember?) So nothing but plus points. Maybe that's what's making the dress so timeless and lasting.

wearing: Boots and dress (essentiel) - scarf (pieces)

Do you have that piece of clothing, the one you never get bored about and returns year after year?

Outfit of the night: disco tortoise

Outfit-cocooning. Sometimes we love to turn in upon ourselves and return to familiar habits. Feeling comfy in our shell just like a tortoise does feel home. And I admit, I'm feeling kinda tortoise sometimes. Just going back to the same outfit as always. The one you like the most on every moment. Followed by wear and tear due to the overload 'worn once -whop- washing machine', and still... can't get enough of it. Standing in front of your closet doesn't make sense anymore, because you feel just perfect in that ONE outfit. But unfortunately, you can't wear it évery party. It would be a pity to get bored about it, because perfect outfits (although in our own minds) are rather rare. Besides that, we can't bore other people. At first it sounds like; "Wow, nice outfit!", the second time; "Still loving that skirt..." but in the end it falls to a "Zzzz-again?!". Nevertheless, you feel like whatevah, because the feeling is so damn right!

Is there a lesson to be learned? Although it's your favourite piece, don't exaggerate. And most of all, that's an obligation for myself! Btw, funny how the shelter of a tortoise looks like this skirt. This shiny piece keeps obsessing me. I present: my current beloved party-outfit.

wearing: skirt (F21) - blouse (c&a) - jeans jacket (urban outfitters) - necklace (new look) - earrings (h&m) - bag (vintage) - shoes (the fab shoes)

Does it sound familiar to you guyz-this cocooning?
PS. Sorry for the bad quality, too little light, I guess...

NEW IN: essential sales

I'm glad my exam went well today. The next is in 5 days, so I could afford to rest a bit: tradition wise forgetting my school-worries with a nice portion of sushi, hunting the last good deals of sales: thatz how we roll it.

A golden headliner in the tips for scoring sales is probably scoring basics. Seasons fly, and so does the current collection. But hey, sin ain't not a crime! Altough I won't say my closet is empty, new clothes stay fun. Whether they are following a current trend, whether they're just simple. In this case 'less is more', does not hold good. Guess that's what typifies the women. Back to my point; we rather spend money on fresh and trendy clothes than on good basics. (or that's what I prefer.)

Thinking about what to wear, and concluding that you miss THE essential piece to fulfill this perfect outfit in mind. I hate this feeling. So based on this issue, I made a wise choice and went hunting this essential pieces. Essential not because they're required in a standard closet (think:LBD, comfy warm pullover, perfect jeans,...), essential to get around the fact I can't combine some specific pieces to wear them parallel to my mind-based-look.

I missed:
1 a simple black pair of legging-pants that could go for a pants (not those who reveal your asscrack...)
2 black shirt blouses (!!!)
3 a simple shirt in a neutral color to combine with several necklaces
4 a special pants (not just 'that' jeans)

I found:
1 my legging (after trying out a lottttt)
2 I let myself go lose: 3 pieces
3 simple because it doesn't have a motif, just glitz
5 a sequin blazer & belt: just because it can

I still miss:
4 the special pants.
Seriously, I don't exaggerate when I tell you I tried on at least 20 pieces. No perfect match, looks like mission impossible?! Too narrow or too short, especially too short. A long piece looks an ankle piece and an ankle piece looks 3/4 on me. Okay 1m80 isn't that small, but hey I'm not a special exception, am I? There are a lot of girls with long legs imo, so pleaseeeeee think about this you damned clothing makers!

The catches:

Did you find all the things you wanted in sales? Ever had problem with short pants?

Outfit of the night: disco-ball-lookalike-eighties-dress

The nillies. My time. What should I talk about when I'm retiring and have my grandchilderen coming on a visit? Would it be the conflicting forces on several areas (see: political, economic, social or natural aspects) or rather the uniforcing social media? That's the core concept of this period imo. We've been overwhelmed by facebook, twitter, instagram, soundcloud, spotify, hyves, youtube,... and that are just the most leading ones. Caring = sharing, it's the rule rather than the exception. Odd isn't it? And even in the domain of fashion, whe can't live without them. Not only blogsters but also fashion magazines, brands, webshops and others can't help but to be keen to join in. If I have to give one word to define the nillies; it would be hodgepodge. And after my demonstration, that term speaks for itself.

The eighties. That's the period I had wanna live. An intersection of bright colors & punk. I love the prototypic vision of the disco people. They looked so funny and simultaneously also fashionable. A complex image with glitters, colors, leggings and polkadots. When you say eighties, I say cool music with funny upside-down moves. Love it.

Remember the dress from this post? I felt directly in love with this disco-ball-lookalike-dress. It clearly reminds me of these golden eighties, where surplus glitter & color wasn't immediately taboo.
I was a bit choosy how to combine this, since I wanted all eyes on the dress. So I dressed down with simple black.

wearing: Dress & belt (thrifted) - boots (the fab shoes) - earrings (Veritas) - bag (Essentiel)

BTW: Here's a good illustration of the eighties with a nillies electronic touch.

Happy eighties xoxo

Finishing touches: Hair Crystals

I’ve forgot to post this finishing touch of the day, in the resonance of the holidays. I mean, I used it for the holidays (nye), but in fact, you can use it for every occasion you want.  Only, it will lose it’s effect behind my study desk…
After numerous crystals to decorate your eyes, body, nails and even teeth,  SPOTTED: the hair crystals.
I've found them in ‘Kruidvat’ for only €1,79 but I suppose you can get them in a lot of drugstores.
As I mentioned I have this glitz&glam-phobia, this is quite a good new gadget to optimize my obsession.

This is how we do it:
1 Take your pair of crystals.
2 Cut off a strip with a pair of scissors. (If you have long hair, you might need more strips for one lock of hair.)
3 Pick a lock of hair from a place that you want. (I chose a piece just behind my ear.)
4 Remove the white film and paste it in your well-held-together lock of hair.
5 Heat up the straightener and hold on about 5 second/crystal, and glide along one time.
6 Remove the plastic foil & tadaaaaa.

As I said, you can choose a place where you want, but don’t pick the wrong one… You don’t want to look like the Barbie from a child who just came back from the hairdressers, will you? (and by that I mean a lot of crystals in your pony or something) Just keep it subtle & natural.

Most of the hair crystals will stay in for a couple of weeks, the edition I used is less promising I think, although I had to scrape them away when I washed my hair.

Like it? You can find some crystals over here and here
Keep me posted about your expiriences with it!

NAILART: glitz & glamz

You guyz already know that I simply adore glitters, sequins & shiny glamz. So I present you: my nailart for NYE: as shining and sparkling as possible.

I combined 3 different polishes:
1.OPI - save me (responsible for the lenghty glitters)
2.Essence - special effect colored topper (responsible for the colored dots)
3.Paris Memories (responsible for the glittery base coat)

I'm not sure how many layers I've applied, but I can tell you: it were MANY!
My nails had to dry for like an hour or something!
I'm curious how long it's gonna take to undo these... I'm already looking forward! NOT.

So if you were doubting what to do with your nails; go for it! You can also do this 4 another party or feast; but I warn you: it's really showy!

And further... I'll wish you all a fabulous glammin', lovely, (drunk?) partynight.
Let de countdown begin!

NAILART: sparkling dusk to dawn

Not much to talk about, considering the prison time behind the desk. Unless you are interested in the gender differences, evolutionary vision on personality, motives, stress or emotions? That's right, I was studying personality psychology these last few days; so I can give you a whole exposition... This subject is quite fascinating, but I would rather fascinate about upcoming NY, sales,... than sitting like a vampire behind a desk a whole day long behind closed doors. (except these few pauses of smoking cigarettes or eating some food: -silly yeah- that's my relaxation) And that's my problem; I have to stay inside, when I go outside to grab a drink with some friendz; my concentration will vanish like frost under the morning sun. So I'll keep this activities limited to the minimum.

NYE is almost there; so this nailart maybe can contribute to your fabulous outfits. The basic piece of your outfit, you probably got already in mind, but don't forget to optimize your accessories, bag, (tights), shoes, make-up & not to forget: nails!

The base coat is a simple Catrice:200 from dusk to dawn and the top coat the Essence special effect topper
Quite a lovely color combo imo.

For those who share this sorrow; good luck studying x

NAILART: Rocky reindeers

It's still raining cats & dogs outside; and although I love to wank about the coldness, this rain doesn't make me happier. So if I'm honest, it would be nice if the degrees would fall extremely, preferable tonight: that we can have a lovely white christmas. The disadvantage of snow is the muddy splash pool afterwards; but because I would just gaze at the flakes from behind my window (caused by the exams offcourse), it wouldn't be a disadvantage anymore... (since I don't leave the house...grmbl) So; snow please, dear mother Nature.

Today it's time for another nailart. And offcourseee; because it's almost xmas-time; let's stay in theme. I polished my nails with the 'Rock muse' smokey topcoat from New york color. You have to put on a lot of layers to make the result 'rocky' enough, so that's a disadvantage imo. @ my ring fingers, I've put on a golden base-coat, and polished some easy reindeers (existing of some simple spheres).
I wish you already a merrymerrymerry x-mas xoxo

NAILART: save me

This nailart of the day is quite suitable for my current life. While I'm practical living in the university-library, the clock keeps ticking. In less then 2 weeks X-mass holidays starts, and like I said before; the period of non stop study begins. (except this 3 days of escape: X-mass, New year's Eve & New year itself -fieuw-)

Caused by a lack of enthusiasm, I didn't polished my nails lately with glitters. It's such a f*cking hard job to scrubb off these little rascals, untill I saw recent some blogposts with a lot of tricks to make it easy (here and here). So I plucked up courage & covered my nails again with a big fat layer of 'Save me' - from the Nicki Minaj OPI collection. (The base coat is one of primark which I showed you already a couple of times.)
I forgot how much I loved this glitters
